JAG Healthcare Shelby is currently seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and compassionate Cook to join our Culinary Team. We are looking for someone who takes pride in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals while creating a positive dining experience for our residents. JAG Healthcare Shelby is a welcoming 45-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility known for its family-oriented atmosphere and commitment to person-centered care. Our residents include individuals receiving skilled nursing and rehabilitation services, as well as those living with mild behavioral health needs and memory care diagnoses. Every resident room is treated as their home, and our Culinary Team plays an important role in creating delicious, nutritious meals that help residents feel comfortable, cared for, and at home.

Responsibilities
(include but are not limited to):
- Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, physician orders, therapeutic diets, and resident preferences
- Ensure food is prepared, served, and stored according to food safety and temperature guidelines
- Assist with meal service and ensure timely delivery of meals to residents
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, dining room, equipment, and work areas
- Properly store food, rotate inventory, and assist with food preparation as needed
- Follow all company, local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation regulations
- Work collaboratively with the Dietary Manager and Culinary Team to provide an exceptional dining experience
- Positively interact with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers
Skills & Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age to operate commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, in accordance with safety requirements.
- Previous cooking, dietary, or food service experience preferred
- Healthcare or long-term care experience is a plus, but not required
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices preferred
- Ability to work independently while remaining motivated and organized
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Professionalism with strong attention to detail
- Compassion and patience when interacting with residents
