Our agency head is Secretary Janet Stanek, who was appointed by Gov. Kelly in Dec 2021. We are made up for three divisions: Public Health, Environment, and Health care finance (which includes KanCare). We are the only agency in the nation to have these three entities under one roof. This allows us to take a holistic approach to the health and well-being of all Kansans.

Internship Project Duties
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is seeking an Intern to join our Internship Program in the Office of Legal Services located in our Curtis State Office Building for the summer.
An intern opportunity to learn and provide support to legal group, including research, writing, administrative support, hearing prep, prepares drafts of legal documents, etc. Filling this position would be very helpful to Legal office, which is short staffed (in public health) and has a heavy caseload currently. Did not fill during pandemic due to resource constraints but ready to fill now.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled in an accredited law school

Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State

Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to sites.

Due to the nature of the business, the incumbent must be a minimum of 18 years old at the time of employment.

As a condition of employment, will be subject to a criminal background check.

High School and Bachelor’s Degree required.
