PRIMARY FUNCTION:Works directly under the supervision of the Safety & Risk Management Director (SRMD). The Driver/Facility Support Staff supports the maintenance of a clean, healthy, safe, and positive environment for everyone at the Club. This position supports various technical responsibilities associated with the maintenance of facilities, grounds, equipment, and the Club's transportation fleet.
The Driver/Facility Support Staff is responsible for adhering to the Club's driving policy while operating Club vehicles to pick up and drop off members from school sites, provide transportation for field trips, and pick up and deliver cargo, supplies, and equipment. The Driver/Facility Support Staff is also responsible for communicating facility and transportation updates and needs to the Safety & Risk Management Director.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)Driver
- Supports the transportation program, including but not limited to driving for Club needs, fueling vehicles, cleaning the interior and exterior of Club vehicles, and reporting maintenance issues.
- Responsible for driving and supervising members on field trips.
- Responsible for delivering, picking up, and unloading supplies and equipment.
Facility Support
- Supports the Club's Food Distribution Program, including but not limited to storing food, taking temperatures, maintaining required documentation, distributing snacks, and completing reporting forms.
- Supervises members during snack time at the Clubhouse.
- Assists in identifying and minimizing risks in all of the Club's physical environments.
- Supports the maintenance of the Clubhouse, Teen Center facilities, and surrounding grounds.
- Promotes the safety of members and maintains the appearance of the Club at all times.
- Assists in various areas of Club operations and special events.
- Promotes teamwork among co-workers and volunteers.
- Provides the Safety & Risk Management Director with a weekly maintenance checklist, including completed activities and any findings.
Maintenance
- Ensures adherence to appropriate safety procedures as established by the Executive Team and Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) guidelines.
- Ensures the safe use, proper maintenance, and storage of all cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Administers the use of cleaning materials and supplies and ensures facilities and grounds meet cleanliness and safety standards daily.
- Maintains organized, professional, and functional work environments throughout reception areas, staff workrooms, conference rooms, copy/printing stations, staff lounge and kitchen areas, storage rooms, and shared workspaces.
- Supports the maintenance of Club storage areas, including the package room, supply and janitorial closets, event storage, outdoor storage bins, and inventory storage locations.
- Ensures the staff lounge and shared spaces remain stocked, functional, clean, and welcoming.
- Coordinates with the Office Coordinator to maintain shared spaces and support a positive workplace experience for employees.
- Ensures all team members understand their role in creating and maintaining a clean, healthy, safe, and positive environment for all.
- Ensures an attractive, welcoming, and fun environment is created and maintained at the Clubhouse and Teen Center.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Required to drive the Club van. Must have a clean driving record and obtain the appropriate driver's license.
- May be required to work outside of scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Assists with special events.
- Reports all maintenance issues, facility needs, and safety concerns to the Safety & Risk Management Director.
- Assumes other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Experience working with, or the ability to work with, youth ages 5–17.
- Drivers must have three or more years of driving experience.
- Driver must pass the Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check and acknowledge that driving records may be reviewed periodically without notice.
- Driver must provide the Director of Operations with proof of current automobile insurance.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- Ability to motivate members and effectively address behavior and discipline issues.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with staff, members, and families.
- Ability to interact professionally with the general public.
- CPR and First Aid certification, and current TB clearance.
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisors to receive and provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines, and provide instruction and support.
External: Maintains contact with community organizations, schools, members' parents/guardians, vendors, and others to support Club operations and assist in resolving issues.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, and move throughout the facility while performing maintenance duties.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be available to work either the morning or afternoon shift, Monday through Friday, during school operating hours (8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.).
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
