About Pavilia
Pavilia is the AI travel companion for study-abroad students. Just tell Pavilia what you’re looking for, and our AI builds a complete, bookable itinerary with transportation, hotels, tickets, and restaurants booked in one go, for solo travelers and groups alike. We’re an early-stage startup moving fast toward our first paying customers, and we’re building the core team that gets us there.
The Role
We’re hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer to own features end-to-end across our product, from the
interfaces students book with to the APIs and AI systems behind them. You’ll join a small, fast-moving team where your work ships quickly and has real, visible impact on the product and the business. This is a hands-on building role for someone who wants ownership, not a cog in a large machine.
What you’ll do
- Design, build, and ship full-stack features across the web app, from UI to API to database
- Integrate and harden third-party services (flights via Duffel, payments via Stripe, messaging via Twilio and Resend, auth via Auth0)
- Extend our AI itinerary engine, which uses the Anthropic (Claude) SDK to turn prompts into bookable trips
- Model data with Drizzle ORM and PostgreSQL, and keep the system reliable, observable, and fast
- Write tests, review code, and help set engineering standards as we scale
- Collaborate closely with the founders on product direction and priorities
Our stack
- Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Radix UI, Framer Motion
- Backend: Next.js API routes, Node, Drizzle ORM, PostgreSQL, Zod, pg-boss
- Integrations: Anthropic (Claude) SDK, Stripe, Duffel, Auth0, Twilio, Resend
- Quality & infra: Vitest, Playwright, ESLint, Prettier, Sentry, Datadog, PostHog, Vercel
What we’re looking for
- 2–5 years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping web applications
- Strong across the stack, with real depth in TypeScript and a modern framework (React/Next.js preferred)
- Solid experience with relational databases, SQL, and building/consuming REST APIs
- Comfortable owning features end-to-end and making pragmatic decisions in an early-stage environment
- Strong communication and a bias toward shipping
- Excited about travel, AI, or consumer products
- Strong experience with Claude
Nice to have
- Experience integrating payments (Stripe) or third-party APIs at production quality
- Experience with LLM/AI product features
- Startup or founding-team experience
What you’ll get
- Equity compensation (stock options), with percentage based on experience and further discussion
- High ownership and real impact as an early engineer on the team
- A modern, well-tooled codebase and a fast path from idea to production
- Direct collaboration with the founders on product and technical direction
- A hybrid schedule that balances focused remote work with in-person collaboration
