Senior In-House Counsel

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, business-minded In-House Counsel to join our legal team. This role will serve as a strategic legal partner to the business, with primary responsibility for managing litigation and providing practical, solutions-oriented legal guidance that supports company growth and operational objectives.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience litigating construction-related matters, managing complex disputes across multiple jurisdictions, and partnering with business leaders to balance legal risk with commercial objectives. This individual will be a strong advocate for the company, an innovative problem-solver, and a trusted advisor capable of navigating challenging legal and business issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all aspects of litigation, including coordination and supervision of outside counsel nationwide.
- Handle a broad range of disputes, with a strong emphasis on construction-related litigation, contract disputes, claims management, and risk mitigation.
- Manage and support litigation matters across multiple states and jurisdictions, ensuring consistency in legal strategy and business objectives.
- Develop and implement litigation strategies that protect the company's interests while aligning with operational and financial goals.
- Provide proactive legal advice regarding dispute avoidance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead negotiations involving contracts, settlements, claims, and other business-critical matters.
- Serve as a strategic business partner to executive leadership and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, human resources, project management, and executive leadership teams.
- Evaluate legal risks and provide practical, business-focused recommendations.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Identify creative and innovative solutions to complex legal and business challenges.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in the State of Washington, or ability to become licensed in Washington.
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably with a combination of law firm and in-house experience.
- Significant experience litigating construction-related matters, including contract disputes, claims, defect claims, project disputes, and related commercial litigation.
- Demonstrated experience managing litigation in multiple jurisdictions and working with outside counsel across various states.
- Strong understanding of litigation strategy, dispute resolution, and risk management.
- Exceptional negotiation, advocacy, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Proven ability to work effectively with executives, business leaders, and external partners.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary starting at $165,000+, commensurate with experience.
