At New York Health, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient-centered care through innovation, collaboration, and clinical excellence. We are seeking an experienced, robotically trained Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our growing surgical team as a Surgical First Assistant supporting advanced robotic and minimally invasive procedures across Long Island.
This role offers the opportunity to work alongside highly skilled surgeons in a dynamic perioperative environment while contributing to the continued growth of a rapidly expanding healthcare organization.

Serve as first assistant in robotic-assisted surgical procedures utilizing the da Vinci platform, as well as open and laparoscopic surgical cases

Provide intraoperative support including patient positioning, port placement, retraction, tissue handling, suturing, and hemostasis

Conduct preoperative evaluations including history & physicals, consent review, and surgical clearance assessments

Perform postoperative rounds, manage inpatient care, and coordinate discharge planning

Collaborate closely with attending surgeons, operating room staff, and hospitalist teams to ensure seamless patient care

Complete clinical documentation within the EMR in accordance with hospital and practice standards

Participate in the on-call rotation schedule as needed

Current New York State licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in good standing

Nurse Practitioners must possess RNFA certification

National certification

ANCC or AANP for NPs
-
NCCPA for PAs
-
Active DEA registration
-
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
-
Documented robotic surgical training (da Vinci certification or equivalent)

Prior surgical first-assist experience

Eligibility for privileging at St. Charles Hospital and Mather Hospital

Excellent clinical, interpersonal, and communication skills
-
2+ years of surgical first-assist experience
-
Experience in general surgery, gynecology, or related surgical subspecialties

Familiarity with Catholic Health hospital systems and credentialing processes

Primarily OR-based coverage at St. Charles Hospital (Port Jefferson) and Mather Hospital

Competitive base salary: $150,000 – $200,000, commensurate with experience
