Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze detailed financial reports related to construction projects, ensuring alignment with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company policies.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes specific to project expenses, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and general ledger accounting to maintain accurate financial records.
- Oversee project cost management by tracking budgets, forecasting expenses, and identifying variances for corrective action.
- Utilize ERP systems such as SAP, Sage, Xero, or similar software to input data accurately and generate comprehensive financial statements.
- Perform cash flow analysis to support project funding needs and optimize resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls during financial reporting processes and internal audits.
- Collaborate with teams on financial report writing and interpretation to facilitate strategic decision-making.
- Support corporate accounting functions including payroll processing, account reconciliation, and financial concept application.
- Collect data from various sources to prepare accurate financial analyses that inform project planning and execution.
Skills
- Strong understanding of GAAP standards and technical accounting principles relevant to construction projects.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as SAP, QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, Xero, or ERP systems; experience with financial software integration is a plus.
- Expertise in double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, balance sheet reconciliation, and account analysis.
- Experience with financial report writing, interpretation of complex financial data, and presenting insights clearly.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements for internal controls and audit readiness.
- Skilled in forecasting, budgeting, cost management strategies, and cash flow analysis to support project viability.
- Ability to perform detailed data collection for accurate financial analysis within a corporate accounting environment.
- Familiarity with public accounting practices related to construction or similar industries is advantageous.
