WHO WE ARE
Founded in 1988, Dickson Equipment is a well-established dealer and full-service shop specializing in solid waste equipment. We sell, install, and service refuse collection bodies (New Way, Curbtender), rolloff and hooklift hoists (Galfab, Stellar Industries), Brush Hawg brush grapples, and all major brands of solid waste equipment. We also refurbish used refuse trucks in our shop.
We are located at 5700 W 55th St in Tulsa, OK — a well-equipped shop with a team that takes the work seriously.
Nearly 40 years in business. Not a startup. Not a revolving door.

THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Refuse Equipment Technician to diagnose and repair solid waste vehicles and equipment in our shop. This is hands-on, technical work that rewards people who are genuinely good at troubleshooting — especially in hydraulics and 12-volt electrical systems.
You will work on refuse collection bodies, rolloff and hooklift hoists, packer mechanisms, tailgates, and related components on a wide variety of chassis. If you have experience with this type of equipment and you are tired of flat-rate pressure or working on the same thing every day, this is worth a conversation.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems including PTOs, pumps, control valves, cylinders, and plumbing
- Diagnose and repair 12-volt electrical systems including CAN bus networks, body controllers, sensors, solenoids, relays, and wiring
- Perform warranty and out-of-warranty repairs on refuse bodies, rolloff hoists, hooklifts, and related equipment
- Participate in new equipment installation and pre-delivery inspection
- Support the refurbishment of used trucks prior to resale
- Communicate clearly with the service manager on job status, parts needs, and any issues discovered during repair
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and accurate repair documentation
---
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required:
- Demonstrated experience diagnosing and repairing 12-volt electrical systems on heavy trucks or vocational equipment
- Hands-on experience with CAN bus system diagnosis (reading fault codes, tracing network faults, working with body controllers)
- Solid hydraulic troubleshooting skills — PTOs, gear pumps, vane pumps, control valves, cylinders, and hydraulic plumbing
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and service manuals
- Self-sufficient troubleshooter — you can work through a problem without needing someone to hand-hold you through it
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
-Welding/fabricating (Not required but helpful)
- Direct experience with refuse collection bodies, rolloff hoists, hooklifts, or similar vocational truck equipment
- Familiarity with New Way, Curbtender, Galfab, Stellar Industries, or similar manufacturer systems
- CDL or ability to obtain one (helpful for moving trucks in the shop yard)
- Experience with diagnostic software used on vocational equipment body controllers
---
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience
- Health insurance
- Paid time off and holidays
- Manufacturer technical training through our dealer partnerships (New Way, Curbtender, Galfab, Stellar Industries)
- Stable, consistent work in a specialized niche — solid waste equipment doesn't go away
- A shop environment where skilled techs are respected and compensated accordingly
