Lean Industrial Engineer - Salina, KS
Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a Lean Industrial Engineer with a proven track record of driving improvements across multiple facilities to join our team. This individual will help further develop our continuous improvement culture by collaborating in hands-on projects at multiple facilities throughout North Central Kansas.
This is an on-site position based in Salina, KS. The schedule is Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for being a “change agent” to eliminate/reduce non-value activities in production

Determine feasibility and cost effectiveness for projects

Analyze work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment

Implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials

Strong analysis skills and speaks with data/facts

Proactively identify and scope out areas of opportunities

Liaison between shop floor and upper management to drive change and present results

Day travel up to 50% through North Central Kansas

Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering; 5 years of lean engineering experience in a manufacturing environment or a combination of experience and education

Strong background in lean principles

Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Manufacturing experience in fabrication, weld, paint, and assembly helpful
