Job Description:
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and tracking the movement of materials, equipment, and personnel to support safe and efficient oil and gas project execution. The role covers end-to-end logistics coordination, including preparation of Preliminary and Final Project Logistics Plans and End-Of-Well reports, with close interfaces across project, supply chain, HSE, and contractor teams.
Project context: Onshore drilling campaign with two firm wells in the NPRA block, Alaska (two drilling rigs). Vertical exploration/appraisal wells (planned TD ~6,000–30,000 ft MD), well testing in discovery cases, and a single-stage frac planned for exploratory wells. Wells to be permanently abandoned or temporarily suspended based on objectives.
Start/Duration: Expected start mid-June 2026; assignment duration 21 months.
Reporting line: Drilling Project Manager / Logistics Excellence Center.
Key interfaces: Supply Chain & Contracts; Project Management and Engineering; Drilling & Completion office team and rig operations teams; HSE and regulatory teams; logistics and transportation contractors.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the main focal point for transportation, storage, and handling of project resources related to ice roads, cargo management, personnel management, and utilities management.
- Lead drilling logistics engineering, planning, and execution in coordination with the Logistics Team Leader.
- Manage the logistics team during execution.
- Manage logistics contractors including land transport, air transport, barge transport (if applicable), warehouse, and search and rescue.
- Ensure logistics engineering, long-term planning, mid-term planning, look-ahead planning, execution, cargo tracking (monitoring and control), and close-out are delivered according to sector best practices and in compliance with local regulations and procedures.
- Establish the baseline for operational logistics by collecting and consolidating logistics demand.
- Define logistics scenarios for cargo, personnel, and utilities management, including correct resource sizing for operations.
- Determine logistics capacity required to execute project activities, including when asset resources are used and when additional resources are needed.
- Maintain full understanding of required logistics capacity and available logistics capabilities.
- Participate in planning, supervision, and execution of logistics activities to support operations.
- Develop the logistics strategy for the project by defining delivery points, storage points, and main transportation routes; select optimum means and modes of transportation.
- Design and lead logistics network improvement initiatives to increase transport capacity, reduce costs, and improve efficiency and service quality.
- Provide inputs to determine infrastructure needs, transport means/modes, and location of key hubs required to complete the supply chain.
- Consolidate user demand and ensure alignment with the logistics budget.
- Act as contract holder for logistics contracts or engage the operational logistics team as required.
- Issue logistics scopes of work and conduct technical evaluations in line with the contracting plan.
- Prepare Preliminary and Final Project Logistics Plans.
- Prepare End-Of-Well logistics reports.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and track logistics movements for materials, equipment, and personnel in support of oil and gas operations.
- Ability to manage logistics engineering, multi-horizon planning (long-term, mid-term, look-ahead), execution, cargo tracking, and close-out.
- Ability to coordinate ice road logistics and operations requiring specialized transport planning.
- Ability to manage logistics contractors across land, air, barge (if applicable), warehousing, and search and rescue services.
- Ability to develop logistics strategies, define networks/routes, and optimize delivery and storage points.
- Ability to manage logistics demand planning, capacity planning, and budgeting alignment.
- Ability to prepare project logistics plans and End-Of-Well reports.
- Ability to work effectively with supply chain, project management, engineering, drilling/completions teams, HSE/regulatory teams, and external contractors.
