The City of Phoenix Housing Department's mission is to provide quality affordable housing and a pathway to self-sufficiency. To fulfill this mission, the City of Phoenix Housing Department is responsible for the implementation of the City Council-approved Housing Phoenix Plan (HPP) through its Affordable Housing Division. The HPP includes a goal to increase the overall supply of market, workforce, and affordable housing units through the implementation of nine policy initiatives.
The Affordable Housing Division is responsible for meeting the Plans short-term, long-term and ongoing policy objectives through amending city ordinances to encourage increased housing development, enhancing public and private partnerships, establishing new programs to promote and sustain affordable housing, in addition to redeveloping city-owned property with affordable housing. The Affordable Housing Division seeks an enthusiastic, detail oriented, and high-performing individual to fill a Project Management Assistant position to support and assist the Affordable Housing team with the implementation of the HPP.
This position assists and provides support to meet HPP timeline and performance objectives; assists in the advocacy for housing with internal and external partners through the facilitation, completion, and presentation of HPP related research; interacts with private and non-profit developers and their staff as well as representatives of other City departments involved in HPP initiatives; tracks and reports on development project updates; drafts and submits quarterly reports; and ensures excellent customer service. This position requires the ability to communicate verbally and in writing, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, and interpret information accurately. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Deputy Housing Director, Housing Manager, or Project Manager.
Responsibilities include:

Assist with projects that support the implementation of the nine Housing Phoenix Plan (HPP) initiatives.

Coordinate meetings for HPP teams, including scheduling, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and tracking action items.

Maintain organized project documentation such as work plans, timelines, progress updates, and communication logs.

Support the preparation of materials for City Council briefings, committee updates, and public-facing reports on HPP progress.

Monitor project milestones and provide timely updates to management on potential delays or issues.

Track key performance indicators related to HPP initiatives and assist with preparing related reports.

Assist with city-owned land Request for Proposal (RFP) processes, including site due diligence, community outreach, and scope development.

Support contract administration tasks, including monitoring requirements, preparing reports, and coordinating with City departments and non-profit and private development partners.

Conduct research; gather, organize, analyze, and summarize data; and prepare written reports of findings.

Assist with education and outreach efforts to communicate HPP accomplishments to internal and external stakeholders.

Manage public inquiries related to HPP initiatives and ensure timely, professional responses.

Provide administrative support for the Affordable Housing portfolio and other HPP program activities as needed.
