Job Overview
The Host/Hostess welcomes guests and helps create a positive first impression for the hotel’s dining outlets, bar, pool area, or other assigned service locations. This role includes greeting and seating guests, managing waitlists or reservations, answering guest questions, and supporting smooth service flow. Full-time and part-time positions may be available. Shifts, days, hours, and schedules will vary based on business needs, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
This position operates in a hotel food and beverage environment with frequent guest interaction, standing, walking, use of a reservation or seating system, and coordination with the service team.
Job Responsibilities
Guest Service & Seating

Greet guests promptly and provide a warm, welcoming first impression

Seat guests and manage seating flow based on outlet procedures and availability

Manage reservations, waitlists, guest counts, and special seating requests as assigned

Answer guest questions and direct guests to the appropriate team member or outlet

Follow all company service standards, safety procedures, and sanitation guidelines
Service Execution & Efficiency

Coordinate with servers, bartenders, bussers, and management to support smooth service flow

Monitor table availability and communicate seating needs to the service team

Assist with menus, guest supplies, and assigned host stand items

Support outlet operations by helping maintain organized guest-facing areas

Perform related duties in accordance with safe workload expectations and applicable law
Cleanliness & Organization

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, menus, and guest-facing areas

Ensure menus, pens, seating supplies, and service items are clean, organized, and properly stocked

Assist with opening, closing, and side work duties related to assigned outlet service

Follow sanitation, safety, chemical-handling, and equipment-use procedures

Report maintenance, safety, or equipment concerns to management
Product Knowledge & Guest Engagement

Maintain general knowledge of property amenities and on-site dining and beverage options

Provide basic information about outlet hours, menus, seating options, and services

Communicate guest requests or concerns to servers, bartenders, or management promptly
Help create a welcoming and organized arrival experience for guests

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Food and beverage, hotel, hospitality, administrative, host, reservations, or guest service experience preferred. Equivalent hospitality experience may be considered.

Availability to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as scheduled; overtime will be handled according to hotel policy and applicable law.

Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and workplace standards
Certifications: California Food Handler Card required within 30 days of hire if required based on assigned duties. Additional certifications may be required based on assigned outlet, job duties, or applicable law.

Physical requirements:
- Frequent standing and walking throughout shift

Frequent use of hands and fingers for the reservation or seating system, phone, and menus

Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling

Occasional carrying/lifting up to 10- 25 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

Ability to safely handle menus, guest supplies, and service items in a service environment
