Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper patient transfer methods and manual handling techniques like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, observe changes in condition, and report findings accurately to healthcare professionals while maintaining HIPAA compliance to protect client privacy.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding or medication administration as prescribed by healthcare plans.
- Support clients with medication management, ensuring timely administration and adherence to care plans while maintaining detailed documentation.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, engaging clients in meaningful activities that promote mental stimulation and social interaction.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Assist with transportation for medical appointments or community outings, ensuring client safety during transfers using appropriate patient transfer methods.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to perform patient observation, monitor vital signs, and recognize signs of medical emergencies or changes in condition.
- Experience working with individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), intellectual disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders is advantageous.
- Knowledge of care plans development and implementation along with experience administering medications and providing specialized dementia or memory care.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in hospice care or heavy lifting techniques is a plus.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality and respectful client communication at all times.
- Strong skills in manual handling techniques such as the use of Hoyer lifts or patient transfer methods are essential for safe patient support.
