Position Summary
The Accounting Senior Manager / Director is responsible for leading a portfolio of client engagements while managing and developing accounting professionals. This role combines technical accounting expertise, client relationship management, operational leadership, and strategic consulting.

Responsibilities
Client Leadership
- Serve as the primary advisor for a portfolio of outsourced accounting clients
- Lead monthly accounting close processes
- Review of financial statements and management reporting packages
- Present financial results and recommendations to executives and business owners
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and internal controls
- Provide Controller and fractional CFO support
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and KPI development
- Lead implementation of accounting best practices

Technical Accounting
- Review complex journal entries and reconciliations
- Review balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensure GAAP compliance
- Research technical accounting issues
- Oversee month-end and year-end close
- Assist with audit preparation
- Coordinate tax-ready financials
- Review revenue recognition and expense allocations
- Perform acquisition accounting and purchase price allocations when needed
- Support due diligence engagements

- Manage Senior Accountants and Staff Accountants
- Review workpapers and provide coaching
- Mentor and develop staff
- Build standardized processes and documentation
- Promote a collaborative, high-accountability culture

Client Management
- Build trusted relationships with executives and business owners
- Lead recurring client meetings
- Monitor engagement profitability
- Manage project timelines and deliverables
- Identify additional client needs and cross-selling opportunities
- Resolve client issues proactively
- Ensure exceptional client satisfaction

Process Improvement
- Standardize workflows across engagements
- Improve efficiency through technology and automation
- Implement accounting software and integrations
- Develop SOPs and training materials
- Participate in firm initiatives and strategic planning

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 8 –12+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 4+ years managing accounting teams
- Public accounting and/or outsourced accounting experience preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Experience managing multiple client relationships simultaneously
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication

- Consulting experience
- Acquisition accounting experience
- Financial modeling experience
- Experience with multi-entity organizations

Experience with several of the following:
- QuickBooks Online
- Bill or Ramp
- Microsoft Excel
- NetSuite
- Intacct
- Payroll platforms (Gusto, ADP, Rippling, etc.)

Within the first year, this individual will:
- Successfully manage a portfolio of 6–10 clients
- Maintain high client satisfaction and retention
- Deliver timely and accurate monthly financial reporting
