Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Staff to join our team in Lompoc, CA. In this vital role, you will provide personalized assistance and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, and residents requiring memory care. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor vital signs and observe health changes, reporting any concerns promptly to healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications following prescribed protocols while maintaining accurate documentation within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Support residents with memory care needs by implementing dementia and Alzheimer's care strategies to promote safety and comfort.
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary guidelines, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation standards are maintained throughout the facility.
- Engage residents in social activities and group programs that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and community involvement.
- Maintain a safe environment by practicing proper infection control procedures, cleaning protocols, and adhering to safety standards such as CPR and First Aid certifications.
Qualifications
- Prior assisted living or long-term care experience preferred; experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or geriatrics is highly valued.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and behavior management techniques.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and the use of assistive devices like Hoyer lifts.
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and medication administration is required or obtainable upon hire.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license for driving residents when necessary; experience with home & community care is a plus.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing compassionate resident support while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
