The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) evaluates, plans and provides care for patients in consultation with and under direct supervision of the supervising physician(s). The APP obtains medical and personal histories, performs physical exams, reviews diagnostic studies, communicates results and educates patients and families. The APP provides follow-up treatments and care to patients in accordance with protocols established by physician. The APP maintains effective communication with patients, staff and physician; provides patient care in a competent, professional and courteous manner. Main area of focus in urology specific to general urology and cancer diagnostics.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Performs all duties in accordance with clinical, OSHA and infection control standards.
Adheres to and follows, including but not limited to, infection control, biohazard waste, sterilization and disinfection, medication administration and storage of controlled substance policies and procedures throughout the facility.
Adheres to biohazard waste policy and procedure for proper disposal of biomedical waste.
Obtains medical and personal histories and performs physical examinations on new and established patients.
Provide and document direct treatment and management of health conditions.
Initiates appropriate diagnostic testing and treatment of medical conditions.
Analyzes and interprets laboratory and radiology results and evaluates the need for further assessment.
Performs therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as indicated by training and experience.
Provides follow-up and health maintenance care to align with established evidence-based practice guidelines.
Provides counseling and education regarding health-related issues.
Documents clinical care of patient in electronic health record according to established guidelines.
Delivers quality patient care and participates in continuous quality improvement processes and initiatives.
Assist with training activities as needed.
Maintains accuracy and productivity levels as established by department standards.
Performs, organizes and streamlines operational tasks to reduce the potential for errors.
Maintains patient safety and confidentiality at all times.
Assigned location is UPNT Arlington but may be required to travel to other UPNT locations as assigned.
All other duties as assigned by Practice Administrator and/or supervising physician.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 1-3 years of hands on clinical experience working with a licensed physician or associate practitioner preferred. Preference given to those with Urology experience.
Minimum of 1-3 years of administering injections preferred.
Exceptional customer service skills and phone etiquette.
Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Computer proficiency and prior experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires frequent lifting of patients and bending/carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite
healthcare services including computer entry.
EDUCATION
Master’s degree
Physician Assistant licensure in Texas and/or Nurse Practitioner licensure in Texas.
CPR/BLS/ACLS certification
All License and certification(s) must be current and maintained during employment.
