Plastic Injection Mold Technician
What You'll Do
Mold Maintenance & Repair
- Perform preventive maintenance on plastic injection molds.
- Disassemble, inspect, clean, repair, and reassemble molds.
- Repair worn or damaged mold components.
- Replace ejector pins, slides, lifters, inserts, leader pins, bushings, and other mold components.
- Perform spotting, fitting, polishing, and bench work.
Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve mold-related production issues.
- Troubleshoot:
- Flash
- Short shots
- Burn marks
- Splay
- Sink
- Warpage
- Dimensional concerns
- Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to improve mold performance.
Mold Assembly & Tooling Support
- Assist with new mold builds and mold modifications.
- Support mold sampling and tryout activities.
- Verify fit, function, and operational readiness of tooling.
Precision Measurement & Shop Work
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Utilize:
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Indicators
- Height gauges
- Operate manual shop equipment as needed.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Follow OSHA and company safety requirements.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the toolroom
