Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Home Health Billing Specialist to manage and streamline the billing processes for our home health services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of healthcare claims management, medical coding, and billing procedures within a home health setting. As a vital member of our administrative team, you will ensure accurate and timely submission of claims, maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, and support the financial health of our organization through meticulous billing practices.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate healthcare claims using appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications.
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding and billing accuracy.
- Manage medical collections by following up on unpaid or denied claims to optimize revenue recovery.
- Utilize billing software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to process claims efficiently.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies or claim denials promptly.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of health insurance policies, coverage details, and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance.
- Generate detailed reports on billing activities, outstanding accounts, and revenue cycle performance for management review.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries related to billing and payment processes in a professional manner.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing within a home health or healthcare setting; familiarity with medical office operations is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding systems, and DRG classifications.
- Experience with medical collection processes and resolving insurance claim issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) as well as billing software applications.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for documentation and claims processing.
- Understanding of healthcare claims management, health insurance policies, and medical records management.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in billing procedures.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, insurance companies, and team members.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding standards is essential.
