Service Writer
Reports To: General Manager/Dealer Principal/Service Manager
Summary
Generates and promotes a positive experience through best practices along with a prompt and dependable quality of service for all new and returning service department clients. Answers and assists with customer’s questions pertaining to the maintenance and service of motorcycles. Gives new and returning clients compelling reasons why they should do business with the dealership and service department. Maintains the service department appearance by keeping the department clean and orderly.
Establish client’s needs, staying focused and attentive while recommending proper service requirements in order to maintain a safe and reliable vehicle. Be proactive with customer follow-up and promote a positive, collaborative team environment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
All repair orders filled out correctly and fully. Repair orders correctly used, and closed.
Follow a uniform sales process to maximize consistency and accuracy.
Be proactive in customer follow-up verifying that work done met or exceeded customer expectations.
Monitor special order tracking and follow-up for service department parts.
Remain current with all service department training requirements and be proactive in acquiring the knowledge needed for the job you are being hired to do.
Maintain a professional service department environment that includes but is not limited to the display of accessories for upsells, and keeping the department clean and orderly.
Greet all clients in a courteous and friendly manner.
Inform all service department clients and prospects of services available and offered throughout the dealership.
Provide prompt, dependable service and always without fail.
Handle telephone calls courteously and quickly.
Have the service department open and ready for the day’s business by dealerships opening time, always without fail.
Be prompt and on time.
Be honest and fair in all business dealings.
Show a responsibility and interest in growing the service department’s business.
Always focus on quality.
Represent the dealership professionally, courteously, and personably in all situations.
Qualifications
Experience in motorcycle repair and maintenance.
Lightspeed proficiency (DMS) highly desired.
Knowledge and experience with motorcycles, parts, accessories, along with other products sold by the dealership, and the ability to quickly learn about them.
Physical Demands
Able to work in an environment that is occasionally loud.
Ability to balance and push motorcycles that may be over 900 lbs. and lift boxes over 50 lbs.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to ride a motorcycle and must possess a motorcycle endorsement on driver’s license.
Working Conditions
Exposure to gasoline, chemical cleaning materials that are commonly found in vehicle service departments.
Exposure to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles and vapors.
