Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Lead Brake Press Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the operation of press brake machines used for sheet metal fabrication, ensuring precision, safety, and efficiency. You will lead a team of operators, coordinate production workflows, and uphold high standards of quality and safety throughout all machining processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the setup, operation, and maintenance of press brake machines for sheet metal forming.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication according to specifications.
- Program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) controlled press brakes for complex bending operations.
- Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools to verify part dimensions and quality standards.
- Train and mentor team members on proper press operation, tooling setup, safety protocols, and quality control procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards in production environments by enforcing proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operating procedures.
- Collaborate with quality inspection teams to identify defects or deviations and implement corrective actions promptly.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating press brake machines in a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Proficiency in CNC programming and CNC laser cutting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with other machining processes such as CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, plasma cutting, electrical discharge machining (EDM), stamping presses, and welding.
- Ability to operate hand tools, measurement instruments (calipers, micrometers), and fabrication equipment safely and accurately.
- Knowledge of safety standards in production environments including crane operation when applicable.
- Basic math skills for measurement calculations and process adjustments.
- Mechanical blueprint interpretation skills for precise tooling setup and fabrication accuracy.
- Strong leadership abilities with experience supervising or leading a team of operators or technicians.

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
