HSE Field Specialist
Location: Eighty Four, PA (Home Office) – Approximately 80% travel to active job sites (currently within a 2-hour radius, subject to change based on project locations)
Reports To: HSE Risk Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time/Hired in directly after 90-days
Compensation: $34-$39/hr (will switch over to salary after 90-days)
HSE Field Specialist Position Overview
The HSE Field Specialist plays a critical role in supporting and promoting a strong safety culture across active construction and industrial job sites. This position is primarily field-based and serves as the frontline safety resource for employees, supervisors, and project teams. The successful candidate will provide hands-on safety leadership through site inspections, employee coaching, incident response, regulatory compliance monitoring, and safety program implementation.
This role requires a self-motivated professional who enjoys working in the field, interacting with crews, and helping drive continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental performance. The HSE Field Specialist will spend most of the workweek traveling between project sites while maintaining close communication with the home office and HSE leadership team.

HSE Field Specialist Primary Responsibilities
Field Safety Leadership
- Conduct routine and unannounced job site inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a visible field presence by actively engaging employees and reinforcing safe work practices.
- Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, mentorship, and employee interaction.
- Serve as the primary field-level safety resource for project personnel and management teams.
Compliance & Auditing
- Perform comprehensive HSE audits on active job sites and document findings through formal reports.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and company-specific safety requirements.
- Track corrective actions and verify completion in a timely manner.
- Assist in customer and third-party safety audits when required.
Incident Response & Investigations
- Respond to workplace incidents and near misses as necessary.
- Conduct incident investigations, root cause analyses, and develop effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Prepare detailed incident documentation and communicate findings to management.
- Assist in workers' compensation, insurance, and regulatory reporting processes when applicable.
Safety Training & Program Management
- Deliver new hire safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training programs.
- Provide behavior-based safety coaching and reinforce company safety expectations.
- Assist with maintaining employee safety certifications and training records.
- Support the development and implementation of new safety initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
Confined Space & Environmental Safety
- Conduct confined space hazard assessments and oversee confined space entry operations.
- Perform confined space training for employees working in permit-required environments.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate, and bump test air monitoring equipment.
- Assist with environmental compliance efforts, including chemical release response, reporting, and documentation.
Administrative Support
- Maintain accurate records related to audits, inspections, training, and incident investigations.
- Prepare reports for management and customers as required.
- Provide occasional administrative support to the HSE department.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and operational needs.
HSE Field Specialist Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety Science or a related field preferred.
- One (1) to five (5) years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental programs within construction, industrial, or oil and gas environments preferred.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other applicable regulatory standards.
- Experience conducting safety inspections, incident investigations, and compliance audits.
- Familiarity with confined space entry procedures and air monitoring equipment.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively to project locations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic reporting systems.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk active construction and industrial job sites for extended periods.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and navigate uneven terrain.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to travel daily as required by project needs.

Pay: $34.00 - $39.00 per hour
