Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Dental Patient Care Coordinator to join our vibrant dental team. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and manage all front desk activities with enthusiasm, including appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out, and phone triage using multi-line phone systems.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification processes utilizing systems such as Epic, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Meditech.
- Assist patients with new patient intake forms, medical history updates, and explanation of treatment plans in clear, patient-friendly language.
- Coordinate appointment scheduling with precision, ensuring optimal flow using dental office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Review and update patient records accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Facilitate communication between patients and the dental team regarding treatment plans, billing questions, and follow-up care using excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
- Support medical billing and coding processes by understanding CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards, and Medicare/Medicaid requirements to ensure timely claim submission.
- Maintain organized dental records and medical documentation review to support accurate care plans and billing procedures.
- Handle clerical tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing multi-line phone systems efficiently to keep the front office running smoothly.
Requirements
- Proven experience in dental office administration or medical administrative support within a clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly preferred.
- Ability to verify insurance benefits accurately and process claims efficiently while adhering to HIPAA guidelines for health information management.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and clinic management software.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally both in person and over the phone.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Previous clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with hospital or healthcare environments is beneficial.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and office management tasks.
