American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Step-Down position requiring an MD or Compact RN license, ACLS, and night shift availability.

Cardiac Step-Down unit in a hospital setting
-
Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including dysrhythmias, heart blocks with or without medical comorbidities, pre- and post-operative cardiac surgery, TAVR care, post-op permanent pacemaker placement, post-op mitral clips, and general medicine cases

Patient ratio of 1:4

Specialized procedures include EKGs, chest tube management, strict I&O, Foley insertion and care, and mobility assistance using a cardiac walker

IV drips managed include Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, Lasix, and Hypertonic Na+ (within set parameters, not titratable)

Equipment used includes telemetry monitors with monitor techs, ICU Medical Plum Duo Infusion System IV pumps, O2, pulse oximetry, VS machines, SCDs, bed/chair alarms, chest tubes, pericardial drains, Foleys, and external cardiac pacers for epicardial wires

Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30

Every other weekend required

Floating required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed

Holiday coverage required as scheduled

Active MD or Compact RN license required

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS

Prior cardiac step-down or similar experience required

8-week contract

Local candidates are accepted at a reduced local travel rate
