Phillips Lifestyles, Northern Michigan’s premier hearth, hot tub, and game room dealer, is hiring an experienced Fireplace Installer to join our growing service team. We’re an authorized dealer for top-tier brands and serve discerning customers across the region — from lakefront homes to new custom builds.
HVAC experience is the single biggest factor in determining your pay. Candidates with strong HVAC backgrounds — venting design, gas line work, combustion air, draft diagnostics, and code compliance — will be compensated accordingly. The right experienced candidate may also be considered for a Crew Leader role.
What You’ll Do
- Install gas, wood, and electric fireplaces, inserts, and stoves in new construction and remodel settings
- Run direct-vent, B-vent, and Class A chimney systems per manufacturer specs and local code
- Perform gas line connections, leak testing, and combustion analysis
- Frame chases, build hearths, and coordinate finish details with builders and customers
- Troubleshoot existing units — ignition, venting, draft, and gas flow issues
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, builders, and architects on jobsites
What We’re Looking For
HVAC experience is highly valued and directly impacts compensation. Background in residential HVAC, gas piping, or sheet metal work translates extremely well into this role and will be reflected in your offer.
Other qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with fireplaces, gas appliances, or related trades (HVAC, plumbing, sheet metal, chimney sweep)
- NFI certification a strong plus (or willingness to obtain)
- Comfortable reading manufacturer specs, vent tables, and gas sizing charts
- Carpentry skills for chase building and finish work
- Valid Michigan driver’s license and clean driving record
- Able to lift 75+ lbs., work on ladders/roofs, and navigate crawl spaces
- Customer-facing professionalism — you’ll be in people’s homes

- Growth potential — we’re actively expanding our hearth division
