Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Dental Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong background in medical administrative support, and a comprehensive understanding of dental terminology and office management. This role involves managing patient interactions, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and maintaining accurate medical records while ensuring compliance with confidentiality policies. The Dental Receptionist plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient service and supporting the smooth operation of the clinic.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing outstanding customer service at all times.
- Manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring efficient clinic flow.
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing procedures utilizing systems like Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, including documentation review and data entry.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
- Assist with insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and processing payments while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Support clinical staff by managing patient intake forms, medical history updates, and documentation review related to care plans.
- Ensure compliance with clinical confidentiality policies and health information management standards across all administrative tasks.
Experience
- Prior experience working as a Medical or Dental Receptionist within a clinical or dental office environment is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of medical billing procedures including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, Medicare processes, and health insurance protocols.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, clinical confidentiality policies, and documentation review processes.
- Experience handling insurance verification, claims processing, and payment posting using systems like Meditech or Athenahealth is highly desirable.
- Bilingual abilities are preferred to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (including 10-key), and familiarity with multi-line phone systems.
- Proven ability to manage administrative tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
