We are seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Manager to lead all aspects of Human Resources for our growing transportation company. This is a unique opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and making a meaningful impact on an organization.
With approximately 140 employees, including office staff and professional truck drivers, you will serve as the company's senior HR leader and trusted advisor to the CEO. As the sole Human Resources professional, you will have the opportunity to shape HR practices while supporting our employees and helping our company continue to grow.
We're looking for someone who enjoys balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution. One day you may be helping recruit drivers, the next you may be coaching a manager through an employee relations issue, updating company policies, or coordinating employee benefits.

What You'll Do
As our Senior Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for all Human Resources functions, including:
Employee Relations
- Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and managers.
- Provide guidance on employee relations, coaching, performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and engaged workplace culture.
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Manage recruiting efforts for office personnel.
- Coordinate interviews, hiring, onboarding, orientation, and new employee integration for office personnel.
- Oversite and coordination of the onboarding process for driver personnel.
- Develop strategies to improve recruiting and employee retention.
Performance Management
- Oversee the company's performance review process.
- Assist supervisors with employee development, goal setting, coaching, and documentation.
- Promote continuous improvement and accountability throughout the organization.
Benefits & HR Administration
- Administer employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, life insurance, disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, and paid time off.
- Coordinate annual open enrollment and employee benefit communications.
- Maintain accurate personnel files and HR records.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Maintain and update employee handbook, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate unemployment claims, leave administration, and employment documentation.
- Partner with payroll to ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations.
Payroll
- Oversee and administrate the weekly payroll process
- Reconcile & administer health & welfare, garnishment and other employee benefits and payroll deductions.
Reporting & Organizational Support
- Monitor and report key HR metrics including turnover, attendance, hiring, retention, and benefit participation.
- Develop and manage the Human Resources budget.
- Recommend improvements to HR programs, policies, and processes.
- Partner closely with the CEO to support organizational goals and business initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Five or more years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
- Experience handling employee relations and performance management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS/payroll systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
- Experience in transportation, trucking, logistics, manufacturing, construction, or another blue-collar environment.
- Experience supporting CDL drivers or DOT-regulated employees.
- Experience with Paylocity or similar payroll and HRIS platforms.
