Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Precision Grinder Operator who can program, set up, operate, and maintain the following equipment:
- Okamoto 2024 Surface Grinder
- Okamoto 2040 Surface Grinder
- Berger Bevel Grinding Machine
This role requires exceptional attention to detail, precision, and consistency. You must be comfortable working with tight tolerances, inspecting parts accurately, and caring for the machines you operate.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and run surface, and bevel grinding machines
- Perform accurate part inspection using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools
- Follow detailed grinding instructions and maintain consistent quality
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace at all times
- Perform routine machine care, cleaning, and preventative maintenance to ensure longevity and accuracy
- Dress grinding wheels and monitor machine performance
- Identify and troubleshoot grinding or machine issues as needed
- Assist with other shop tasks and support team operations when required
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of grinding experience (surface, bevel, or similar)
- Ability to read calipers and precision measuring tools
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Quick learner with strong mechanical aptitude
- Commitment to machine care, cleanliness, and safe work habits
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or in a team
- Ability to lift 40–50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Good communication and willingness to assist in other areas of the shop
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with knife manufacturing or tool grinding
- Ability to program or optimize grinding setups
- Understanding of tolerances, finishes, and material characteristics
- Troubleshooting skills and ability to improve processes
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance routines
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
