About the Role
We are seeking a New York licensed attorney who is fluent in Chinese and capable of taking on a leadership role. The ideal candidate should be able to manage cases independently, communicate effectively with Chinese-speaking clients, semi-frequent travel for jail visits and to other offices, supervise staff or junior attorneys when needed, and help improve internal case-handling procedures.
This role is suitable for an attorney who is organized, responsible, and comfortable leading others.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in legal matters handled by the firm.
- Communicate directly with Chinese-speaking clients regarding case strategy, updates, documents, and next steps.
- Manage cases independently from intake through resolution.
- Draft, review, and revise legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, motions, and client communications.
- Appear in court, hearings, conferences, depositions, mediations, or other legal proceedings as required.
- Supervise and guide paralegals, legal assistants, intake staff, or junior attorneys when appropriate.
- Help maintain quality control over case files, deadlines, client communications, and legal work product.
- Work with firm leadership to improve workflows, case management, and client service standards.
- Demonstrate professionalism, judgment, and accountability in a fast-paced law firm environment.
Required Qualifications
- Must be licensed to practice law in the State of New York.
- Must be fluent in Chinese.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage cases independently.
- Ability to work in a leadership capacity.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professional judgment, reliability, and ability to work under deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior law firm experience.
- Experience supervising legal support staff or junior attorneys.
- Litigation, immigration, civil, criminal, family, real estate, business, or other relevant practice-area experience.
- Bilingual ability in Mandarin and/or Cantonese preferred.
- Experience working with Chinese-speaking clients.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
