The University Honors Program Coordinator serves as the primary administrator for student-facing operations of the University Honors Program (UHP). This position coordinates Honors student advising, admissions, communications, recruitment, retention initiatives, and programmatic activities while providing operational leadership that supports student success, engagement, and progression toward Honors graduation requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree with 2 years of experience in collegiate advising, academic counseling, or student affairs, or related field (internships and practica are acceptable experience).
- Excellent skills in spoken and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in student success, advising and/or teaching
- Experience with an Honors Program, either as a student, faculty, or staff
- Knowledge of systems such as Banner Admin, uAchieve, and Slate
- Experience with data collection and assembly for reports/proposals
Essential Functions and percent of time:
40% Honors Program Advising and Retention
- Leads on-boarding and advising of Honors students to include facilitation during New Student Orientation, in small group sessions, and other proactive advising strategies.
- Serves as the lead facilitator on the “Honors 101” Honors Pilot course creating content, evaluating student work, and communicating with students and Honors Faculty Leaders
- Assists the Director of UHP with advising students on Honors Program graduation requirements
- Assists students with Honors course registration; provides walk-in advising and various support functions to enhance student retention and student success
- Interprets university academic and administrative policies for Honors students
- Coordinates meetings and provide guidance to students in Honors Warning and Academic Probation statuses to encourage student success
- Collaborates with Director of UHP on development of retention strategies, Honors programming and requirements
- Serves as the Honors representative to the University Undergraduate Association of Academic Advisors
- Promotes and connects Honors students to other campus resources such as health and wellness, campus housing, and career services
- Supervises and develops UHP Graduate Assistant and student workers

20% Office Administration and Data Management
- Manages the Honors tracking tool in Watermark Licensure Gateways for the University Honors Program including evaluating student progress, running reports, and communicating with Honors Faculty Leaders about Honors student progress
- Provides administrative support to the UHP Director to include: calendar management, correspondence communication and special project execution
- Manages document flow in and out of Honors Program office
- Manages all Honors data entry in Banner including Honors attributes and Honors advising assignments
- Assists the Director of UHP with data collection and report generation to highlight trends, enrollment projections, etc.
- Updates and maintains accurate student records in advising notes, uAchieve, Wings, Gateways, Slate, and other systems
- Assists with execution of CSR’s to Curriculum, and maintain accurate Honors course schedules
- Prepares meeting agendas and manages minutes for meetings hosted by UHP
20% Event and Engagement
- Collaborates with UHP Director and university stakeholders to execute University Honors Program events to include concept development, budget forecasting, event promotion strategies, and other related actions to promote Honors student engagement
- Acts on behalf of UHP Director to provide support Honors Faculty Leaders with their department’s programming needs
- Assists Honors Faculty Leaders with catering plans and executes event services requests for Honors Program related events
- Coordinates and leads UHP recruitment efforts at various WSU events such as Explore Wright State Day, Green and Gold Admitted Student Days, and Honors Visit Days
10% Honors Admissions
- Provides oversight of all Honors admissions operations
- Serves as the point of contact for the Office of Admissions; responds to inquiries related to Honors admissions and interpreting guidelines
- Uses independent judgement to determine when manual review and processing is necessary for Honors applications
- Assesses Honors transfer credit for students and campus partners
10% Internal and External Communications
- Manages communications through [email protected], WSU Newsletter and social media communications to prospective and current Honors students
- Manages Honors mass messaging to students through Slate Deliver and other platforms
- Communicates with unit advisors about continuous improvement initiatives within UHP to streamline processes for academic advisors and Honors Faulty Leaders
