Job summary
The snack factory fry cook is responsible for preparing raw ingredients, monitoring continuous or batch commercial fryers, ensuring precise temperature regulation, and maintaining rigorous food safety standards. This role requires mechanical aptitude, physical stamina, and strict adherence to recipe specifications to ensure product consistency.
Core responsibilities
Equipment operation: Program, start, and monitor industrial continuous-flow fryers, automated oil filtration units, and seasoning drums.
Process monitoring: Track critical variables including oil temperature, fry time, moisture content, and oil FFA (free fatty acids) levels to prevent burning or under-cooking.
Ingredient preparation: Load raw sliced or extruded snack bases into feeding hoppers and manage the automated application of oils, salts, and seasonings.
Quality assurance: Conduct routine visual and sensory inspections of finished snacks for color, crispness, and defects, discarding sub-standard batches.
Sanitation and safety: Clean and sanitize heavy machinery during changeovers according to FDA and HACCP guidelines, and safely handle hot oils up to 400°F.
Job requirements
Experience:No experience needed. Training will be provided. A minimum of 1–2 years of experience in food manufacturing or industrial kitchen operations is a major advantage.
Interests: Strong interest in food manufacturing and industrial kitchen operations.
Physical demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for 8–12 hour shifts, and work in a hot, loud manufacturing environment.
