Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Order Entry Technician to join our closed-door long-term care pharmacy team. In this role, you will provide essential support by performing customer service tasks and order entry under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your work will help ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care and customer service while contributing to the smooth operation of the pharmacy.
Schedule:
Roatating 8 hour shifts between 7AM - 11PM
Must be able to work every 3rd & 4th weekend
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with nursing facilities, prescriber offices, and insurance plans via phone or fax to process orders, answer inquiries, and ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Review and verify all orders for completeness before routing to order entry.
- Manage and process order shorts, refill-too-soon files, pending orders, and claims in collaboration with Billing Representatives.
- Research and resolve issues related to missing deliveries, incorrect prescriptions, or medication orders. Report unresolved matters to appropriate personnel.
- Enter profile-only information into patient profiles accurately and efficiently.
- Process electronic or faxed prescriptions by entering order information accurately into the pharmacy system.
- Calculate order quantities accurately based on requested amounts or automated system recommendations.
- Perform data entry for reorders, new orders, PRN orders, admissions, and other patient-related requests.
- Ensure all orders are processed within pharmacy cutoff times and expected delivery windows.
- Prepare and verify first-dose orders, including test claims for accurate billing when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of medications and equipment dispensed, compute charges, and enter data into the system.
- Foster open communication between internal and external customers to enhance cooperative efforts and improve production performance.
MUST HAVE
- Valid CPhT license strongly preferred.
- Experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting, particularly in long-term care, is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent data entry skills.
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with pharmacy systems and software is preferred.
