We are seeking an experienced and certified Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) to join a respected healthcare organization in Brooklyn. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled clinician who is passionate about wound, ostomy, and continence care and is looking for a stable long-term contract position.
Position Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the Wound and Ostomy Manager, the Wound Care RN will provide safe, competent, and high-quality patient care based on evidence-based nursing practice. The nurse will perform comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, provide patient and family education, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive wound, ostomy, and continence assessments
- Perform focused physical assessments and develop individualized plans of care
- Recommend and implement appropriate treatment interventions
- Assess and document patient responses to wound, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wound treatments
- Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of care provided by clinical staff
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Provide patient, family, and staff education regarding wound prevention and management
- Perform pressure injury risk assessments and implement preventative measures
- Participate in departmental and hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives
- Assist with the development, revision, and evaluation of standards of care
- Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License required
- Three to five years of healthcare experience required
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams
- Experience utilizing electronic medical record systems and healthcare technology
Required Certifications
Candidates must possess one of the following active wound care certifications:
- Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) – WOCNCB
- Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) – WOCNCB
- Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) – American Board of Wound Management (ABWM)
- Wound Care Certified (WCC) – National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO)
Important: An active wound care certification is required for consideration.
