About BeaconKalamazoo
Beacon Kalamazoo provides 24/7 emergency care and a Level II Trauma Center. We deliver care for serious life-threatening injuries/illnesses, and your everyday health needs, including labor and delivery. We offer specialty care for heart/vascular disease, lung and sleep disorders, mental health conditions, and women’s health. We offer a wide range of outpatient services, including diagnostic imaging, lab tests, respiratorytherapyand rehabilitation therapy services.
What You’ll Do
As a Radiologic Technologist, you’ll report to the Practice Manager. You will operate basic x-ray equipment determining the quality and quantity of ionizing radiation to make quality radiographies. You’ll administer medical x-rays on injured and/or sick patients, as directed by a physician, following accepted procedures and policies. You will perform routine laboratory tests as ordered and assume reception desk responsibilities when the medical receptionist is unavailable.
Radiologic Technologist Job Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic radiology procedures following safety, quality, and infection control standards.
- Prepare orthopedic patients and equipment, apply proper techniques, and ensure accurate imaging.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment; manage inventory and supplies.
- Assist physicians with procedures and patient care tasks (e.g., vitals, injections, lab draws, EKGs).
- Document and communicate results in the electronic medical record.
- Schedule procedures, triage patient calls, and support clinical operations.
- Complete drug and alcohol testing per certification guidelines.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
What You Bring
You bring knowledge of and competency in performing radiographic procedures, including the ability to obtain satisfactory radiographic and accurate records. You’re proficient in radiographic and routine lab procedures with accurate documentation. You have strong analytical and verbal communication skills for patient positioning and care. You show the ability to follow medical instructions and use medical terminology. You’re skilled in patient interaction, typing, filing, and phone communication. You’re capable of performing venipuncture and operating medical equipment with precision. You have manual dexterity for handling devices and accessories.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of an approved school of radiology technology with subsequent registration and state licensure within six months of date of employment.
- A minimum of one year of health care experience is required.
