Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher to join our team. This role is designed to provide specialized instruction and support to preschool-aged children (2 years 6 months through 5 years old) with disabilities, ensuring they receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).

Perform other duties as assigned.
Instructional Delivery:
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students based on evaluation data and research-based practices.
Provide specialized instruction in various settings, including early childhood classrooms, community-based programs, and family settings, ensuring services total not less than 72 clock hours over one school year as per Michigan Administrative Code R 340.1755.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, promoting progress in academic, social, and behavioral domains.
Collaboration and Consultation:
Work collaboratively with general education teachers, related service providers, and other staff to support inclusive practices and the implementation of IEPs to ensure student success.
Provide consultation to non-special education programs when preschool-aged students with disabilities are placed in such settings, as outlined in R 340.1755.
Participate in multidisciplinary evaluation teams (MET) and Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meetings.
Assessment and Documentation:
Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, IEP goals, accommodations, and service delivery.
Complete all required paperwork, including progress reports, IEP documentation, and compliance forms.
Family and Community Engagement:
Establish and maintain effective communication with families, providing regular updates on student progress and involving them in the educational process.
Engage with community resources and agencies to support the holistic development of students.
Professional Development:
Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood special education.
Attend staff meetings, in-service training, and other professional activities as required.
Qualifications:
Required:
Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education (ZN, ZS, ZA + 1 SE endorsement), as specified in R 340.1795.
Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in early childhood development and special education practices.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education or a related field.
Experience working with preschool-aged children with disabilities.
Familiarity with the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
