Position Summary
BullBag is seeking an experienced and hands-on Commercial Fleet Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and daily coordination of our commercial truck fleet.
This is a key position responsible for keeping our fleet safe, reliable, and operating efficiently while supporting our drivers and field operations.
Position Overview
The Commercial Fleet Manager will oversee the day-to-day maintenance and repair needs of BullBag's commercial fleet. This includes coordinating mechanical repairs, sourcing parts and vendors, managing preventative maintenance, and helping optimize driver routing and fleet utilization.
The ideal candidate is mechanically knowledgeable, highly organized, resourceful, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where keeping trucks on the road is critical to the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the maintenance and mechanical needs of BullBag's commercial truck fleet.
- Coordinate repairs with internal technicians, outside mechanics, repair shops, and vendors.
- Diagnose maintenance issues and determine the most efficient repair solution.
- Source and purchase parts, equipment, and repair services at competitive prices.
- Develop and maintain relationships with parts suppliers, mechanics, and service providers.
- Schedule and track preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and extend vehicle life.
- Monitor fleet condition, repair history, maintenance costs, and vehicle availability.
- Coordinate emergency breakdowns and unexpected repairs to get trucks back on the road quickly.
- Work closely with drivers to identify and address vehicle issues.
- Assist with driver routing and daily fleet scheduling to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Help optimize routes based on driver availability, truck capacity, service requirements, and customer needs.
- Maintain accurate fleet maintenance and repair records.
- Ensure vehicles are properly maintained and meet applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities to reduce fleet operating costs without sacrificing safety or reliability.
- Work closely with operations and management to ensure fleet capacity supports business growth.
What We're Looking For
- Fleet management, transportation, trucking, or related experience.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of commercial vehicles.
- Experience coordinating truck repairs and working with outside repair facilities.
- Strong vendor negotiation and parts-sourcing skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple repairs and operational needs.
- Experience with driver scheduling or routing is a strong plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with drivers, vendors, mechanics, and management.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced operating environment.
