We are seeking an experienced Programming Manager to lead our programming team, establish technical standards, and oversee the successful implementation of advanced home automation systems.
Position Summary
The Programming Manager will be responsible for managing the programming department, developing team members, establishing best practices, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-end residential and light commercial automation projects. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines management responsibilities with technical expertise in automation programming, networking, and system integration.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience with Crestron and Savant, strong Layer 3 networking knowledge, familiarity with Lutron lighting and shading systems, and prior leadership experience managing programmers or technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of programmers and technical specialists.
- Manage department workload, project assignments, and resource planning.
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching sessions, and technical training.
- Establish and enforce programming standards, documentation requirements, and quality control processes.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineering, Field Services, and Service departments to ensure project success.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding programming staff.
Technical Responsibilities
- Manage deployment of Crestron and Savant control system programs.
- Oversee programming standards for residential automation systems.
- Support advanced integration of lighting, shading, HVAC, security, surveillance, and AV systems.
- Program and commission Lutron HomeWorks, RadioRA, and motorized shading systems.
- Troubleshoot complex system issues remotely and onsite when necessary.
- Review project documentation and ensure programming requirements are clearly defined.
Networking & Infrastructure
- Design and support enterprise-grade residential networks.
- Configure and troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 network environments.
- Understand VLAN design, routing, firewall principles, VPNs, multicast, QoS, and network security best practices.
- Support Juniper, Netgear, Ruckus, Cisco, or equivalent network platforms.
- Collaborate with IT and network engineering teams on complex deployments.
Required Qualifications
Technical Experience
- 5+ years of automation programming experience.
- Strong experience with: Crestron programming and system deployment; Savant programming and commissioning; Lutron lighting and shading systems.
- Strong understanding of residential AV, control systems, and smart home integration.
- Advanced Layer 3 networking knowledge.
- Experience troubleshooting integrated systems spanning multiple technologies.
Leadership Experience
- Previous experience leading, mentoring, or managing a technical team.
- Strong project coordination and organizational skills.
- Ability to establish standards and drive consistency across projects.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Crestron Certified Programmer or equivalent certification.
- Savant Certified Integrator.
- Lutron HomeWorks certification.
- Experience with D-Tools, CAD, or technical documentation platforms.
- Experience with enterprise networking certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent.
- Experience working within high-end custom residential environments.

Compensation: $90k - $110+k DOE
Travel: Expected travel for this position is 15%.
