Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists with patient setup, positioning, and exercises during therapy sessions to ensure safety and comfort.
- Prepare treatment areas by organizing medical equipment, supplies, and ensuring cleanliness before patient sessions.
- Operate and maintain medical equipment used in therapy sessions, including modalities and assistive devices.
- Support patients with mobility tasks such as transfers, gait training, and balance exercises under supervision.
- Keep detailed records of patient progress, treatment activities, and any changes observed during therapy sessions.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety guidelines at all times.
- Communicate effectively with patients to motivate them and provide encouragement throughout their rehabilitation process.
Skills
- Practicing in a physical therapy role with hands-on experience supporting patient care.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to rehabilitation practices.
- Familiarity with hand therapy occupational practices and orthotics interventions within occupational therapy settings.
- Ability to operate medical equipment safely and efficiently across outpatient, inpatient, or sub-acute care environments.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, post-acute care patients, or those in hospital medicine settings.
- Knowledge of orthopedics and the ability to assist with orthopedic interventions in occupational therapy programs.
- Prior experience in dance therapy or specialized therapies that enhance movement and functional recovery is a plus.
