CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT I
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Under general supervision, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) perform various patient care duties within their scope of certification.

Provides beside care and assists in the treatment of patients under the direction and supervision of an assigned Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse, including Cardiac Monitor responsibilities after completing the Cardiac Monitor Tech (CMT) course. Assists the assigned Registered Nurse with patient admissions, including obtaining and recording patient information and data. Assists physicians and nurses with examinations and treatments and other nursing tasks within the scope of their license as directed.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Incumbents must possess knowledge of relevant District and department policies and procedures; knowledge of the principles of bedside care, including bathing and feeding patients. Understands medical terminology; complies with infection control policies, quality assurance, and confidentiality standards and policies. Possesses the ability to operate telemetry equipment and accurately monitor readings (upon CMT completion); maintain patient files and computer records. Uses interpersonal skills effectively to build and maintain cooperative working relationships; communicates positively and cooperatively with management and supervisory staff, medical staff,

co-workers, patients, and other healthcare personnel. Practices proper body mechanics and safe work techniques.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
LICENSURE/ CERTIFICATIONS / REGISTRATIONS:
1: Current California Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
2: Valid Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider certification.
