The Civil Rights & Employment practice group seeks a Paralegal to work in our Washington, D.C. office on a full-time basis. The Civil Rights & Employment Group represents employees facing systemic discrimination in the workplace, people challenging discrimination in housing and lending, and workers who are not paid the wages they are legally owed.
The individual hired for this position will provide support for attorneys in the practice group’s cases and potential case investigations. The work involves, among other things, factual research, including interviewing potential clients and class members; maintaining client records and responding to client questions; document review; organizing and coding of documents; the management of case files and schedules; and performing clerical tasks associated with filing documents in courts and administrative agencies. Ideal candidates should have at least one year of paralegal experience and possess the following:

A demonstrated interest in law, civil rights, or both;
- An understanding of, and willingness to learn about, basic legal concepts, terminology, principles, and procedures;
- Excellent communication and writing ability, organizational skills, analytical skills, and interpersonal skills;

The ability to work independently and juggle multiple projects;
- Attention to detail;
- Commitment to working as part of a team.
Qualifications:

A four-year degree with strong academic credentials;

Experience with legal research tools, such as Lexis/Nexis or Westlaw is a plus, as is experience with databases such as Microsoft Access;
- Fluency in Spanish is a strong plus.
Schedule:
Full Time: 35 hour work week – Typically Monday through Friday; 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility for overtime as needed. This position offers a hybrid work schedule with up to two remote days per week.
We offer a competitive salary, excellent benefits, and a wonderful work environment. The expected hourly rate (excluding bonus) is $35.71 - $41.21, excluding bonus. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors. You will be eligible to receive a year-end bonus, the issuance and amount of which are discretionary and dependent upon the Firm’s profitability. Preference will be given to candidates who will make a two-year minimum commitment to the position.
