Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled In-House Band Instrument Repair Technician to join our vibrant team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of musical instruments, primarily wind and brass instruments. Your expertise will ensure that our instruments are restored to optimal playing condition, providing musicians with reliable, high-quality gear. - 50/50 split of repair labor to start.
- Parts are paid for by the store.
- All tools are provided by store and yourself. With that being said, any tools you buy for certain jobs are yours and any tools we split the cost of go to the store if and when you stop working for the store.
Duties
- Perform detailed diagnostics on band instruments using specialized tools and equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, or structural issues.
- Repair and restore instruments by replacing damaged parts, adjusting mechanisms, and conducting electrical repairs including soldering, wiring, and circuit troubleshooting.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and engineering troubleshooting manuals to accurately diagnose complex electronic systems within instruments.
- Utilize hand tools, soldering irons, multimeters such as ohmmeters, and other diagnostic devices to carry out precise repairs on low voltage electrical systems including AC/DC circuits.
- Conduct electronic equipment testing to ensure proper functionality after repairs; perform maintenance on electronic components and systems as needed.
- Provide field service support when necessary by traveling to customer locations for on-site repairs or consultations.
- Maintain detailed records of repair procedures, parts used, and diagnostic findings; communicate clearly with customers regarding repair status and technical issues.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician or repair specialist in musical instrument repair or electronic equipment repair.
- Strong knowledge of electrical troubleshooting techniques for AC/DC electrical systems and electronic systems troubleshooting.
- Skilled in reading electrical schematics, blueprints, and schematic diagrams related to musical instruments or electronic devices.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as multimeters (ohmmeters), oscilloscopes, and other testing equipment.
- Experience with soldering—including electrical soldering—and working with hand tools for precise repairs.
- Ability to perform maintenance on electronic equipment and troubleshoot complex electronic systems efficiently.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients of varying knowledge levels.
- Familiarity with computer hardware, computer networking concepts, and electronic blueprint reading is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills combined with engineering troubleshooting capabilities; detail-oriented with a focus on quality workmanship.
