Recovery Movement Consulting (RMC) is seeking an experienced Grant Consultant to join our growing team. This is a flexible, remote contractor position starting at approximately 5–15 hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours and long-term growth based on performance.
RMC provides grant consulting services to nonprofit organizations across the United States, including recovery community organizations, behavioral health providers, refugee-serving organizations, educational institutions, social service agencies, and other mission-driven nonprofits.
This position is ideal for a self-motivated grant professional who enjoys working independently, managing multiple projects, and leveraging technology to maximize efficiency and results.
COMPENSATION
- $25–$45 per hour depending on experience, grant writing success, and demonstrated AI proficiency

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research and identify grant opportunities for nonprofit clients
- Conduct foundation, corporate, government, and federal funding research
- Evaluate funding opportunities for alignment and competitiveness
- Draft Letters of Inquiry (LOIs), grant proposals, and supporting materials
- Review and edit grant narratives for clarity, quality, and compliance
- Assist with grant reports and other funder communications
- Track deadlines and submission requirements
- Collaborate with clients and the RMC team
- Utilize AI tools to improve efficiency, research, analysis, and proposal development
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous grant writing or grant consulting experience required (minium 3 years experience)
- Strong writing, editing, and research skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Ability to work within a fast-paced consulting environment and meet a standard 48-business-hour turnaround requirement for most assignments (non-negotiable)
- Ability to utilize AI for grant prospect research, funder analysis, proposal development, editing, summarization, and workflow efficiency
- Understanding of how to effectively prompt AI tools to improve grant development outcomes
Candidates who do not currently use AI tools as part of their professional workflow will not be considered.

- What types of organizations have you worked with and approximately what percentage of your work has been in behavioral health, substance use disorder/recovery, healthcare, housing/homelessness, refugee/immigrant services, education, human services, and other sectors?
- What grant research platform do you use most frequently today? Please rank your top three grant research tools and briefly explain why.
- What is the primary AI platform you use for grant writing and consulting work, and why is it your preferred platform?
- Describe your AI workflow from grant prospect research through proposal submission, including what tasks you use AI for and what tasks you do not use AI for.
- Provide two actual AI prompts you have used recently to support grant prospect research, grant writing, proposal review, compliance review, or grant analysis.
- Describe one grant you personally wrote from start to finish within the last two years and include the organization, funder, request amount, award amount (if funded), timeline, your role, key challenges, and outcome.
- When evaluating a new nonprofit client, what are the first five grant readiness documents you request and why?
- What financial documents and organizational information do you review before determining whether an organization is prepared for grant funding? Please be specific.
- A nonprofit approaches you seeking a $500,000 government grant but has no program budget, no outcome data, no board giving, and no recent financial statements. How would you advise them?
- Recovery Movement Consulting operates in a fast-paced consulting environment serving multiple nonprofit clients simultaneously. A standard expectation of this position is the ability to respond to client requests and complete most assigned tasks within 48 business hours. This requirement is non-negotiable.
