This is a 4 month contract, possible longer and possible hire.
Job Summary
The Quality Engineer will ensure compliance with customer requirements, drawings, and specifications while driving quality improvements within the organization and among customers and suppliers. This role requires expertise in quality systems, manufacturing processes, and supplier collaboration to identify risks, resolve issues, and meet operational and customer goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Leverage expertise in manufacturing, materials, special processes, and inspection to execute advanced product quality planning activities.
- Develop Material Review Board documentation, including rework and repair procedures, and recommend actionable solutions.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints and non-conformance issues, utilizing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with quality system standards and communicate requirements and updates effectively across teams.
- Collaborate with suppliers to meet quality and manufacturing standards, including conducting supplier training as needed.
- Measure, manage, and improve supplier quality performance.
- Review customer contracts to ensure proper flow-down of quality requirements to suppliers.
- Work cross-functionally to maintain compliance with import/export laws and regulations.
- Perform additional duties and manage specific projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering, OR
- 3 years of relevant experience in quality, manufacturing, process engineering, or supply chain management.
Work Experience:
- Proven ability to interpret technical requirements, manufacturing principles, and measurement methodologies to prevent defects.
- Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Previous experience in a quality improvement role.
Skills and Attributes:
- Expertise in GD&T, blueprint reading, and interpreting specifications.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and quality operations.
- Advanced problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- High accountability, leadership, and initiative.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Effective time management with the ability to prioritize shifting tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six Sigma training or equivalent quality certifications.
- Lead auditor certification (e.g., AS9100, ISO9001, ISO 13485) or relevant auditing experience.
