Equity Staffing Group is seeking a Medical Assistant to support a busy Internal Medicine department in Boston, MA. This position plays an important role in maintaining efficient patient flow, supporting clinicians, performing routine clinical tasks, and ensuring patients receive a positive and well-coordinated experience.
Schedule
Candidates should be flexible to work varied shifts, including:
- 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
- 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
- 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and escort patients to exam rooms while maintaining efficient patient flow.
- Obtain and document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, height, and weight.
- Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and testing.
- Assist clinicians with routine procedures and tests.
- Provide patients with department-specific preparation and testing instructions.
- Update the EMR with recent tests, consultations, demographics, medications, allergies, and chief complaints.
- Complete medication reconciliation and assist with medication refill requests.
- Keep patients informed regarding appointment status and potential delays.
- Assist patients with MyHealth Online enrollment.
- Perform waived point-of-care testing, including strep, urine, hCG, and glucose testing.
- Follow quality-control procedures and accurately document testing results in the EMR.
- Place laboratory and imaging orders under clinical direction.
- Prepare, clean, stock, and maintain exam rooms and equipment.
- Answer backline telephone calls and assist with internal issue resolution.
- Assist with scheduling referrals, follow-up appointments, and pre-visit laboratory work.
- Manage clinician mail and MyHealth messages as assigned.
- Prepare clinical correspondence, including medical necessity letters, when needed.
- Order supplies and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Provide backup coverage and assist with orienting new team members.
- Participate in departmental process and quality-improvement initiatives.
- Provide Medical Secretary support when needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a medical office, ambulatory care, or Internal Medicine setting preferred.
- Strong patient service, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Comfortable working with electronic medical records and clinical workflows.
- EPIC experience is highly preferred.
Work Environment
This is an
on-site position at 133 Brookline Ave. in Boston. No travel is required, and work will not take place in patients' homes.
