Position Summary
RDS Machine is seeking a dependable CNC Machine Operator to support our precision manufacturing operations. This position operates CNC and manual machining equipment, reads engineering drawings, performs basic inspections, and assists with machine setup and teardown.
Candidates should have machine shop experience or current machine trades training and an interest in building a long-term manufacturing career.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate assigned CNC or manual mills and lathes.
- Read and follow blueprints, routers, work instructions, and quality requirements.
- Load and unload parts accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with job setup and teardown, including tool and geometry offsets.
- Transfer, edit, and save CNC programs within established procedures.
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, indicators, gages, and other inspection equipment.
- Monitor machine operation and report tooling, program, quality, or equipment concerns.
- Operate multiple machines when trained and safe to do so.
- Support continuous improvement, 5S, and workplace organization efforts.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow all company procedures.
Qualifications
- Current or completed machine trades training, or at least two years of machine shop experience.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Experience using common precision measuring equipment.
- Basic knowledge of CNC machine operation, tooling, offsets, and machining processes.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and teamwork.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and repeatedly lift at least five pounds.
- Visual ability sufficient to inspect parts, read drawings, and safely operate equipment.
