American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Home Health position requiring at least 1 year of home care experience and orthopedic experience, serving a multi-county territory in the Alton, IL area.

Home health setting covering a territory with a driving range of roughly 40–80 miles from first to last patient visit
-
Clinicians are assigned to a POD (group of zip codes) and work with a multidisciplinary team to manage patients, with occasional support to other PODs as needed
-
Average caseload of 5–20 visits per day using a daily point productivity system (5.2 points per day)

Point-of-care visits include wound care, wound vac, IV therapy (antibiotics, TPN), post-ortho/joint recovery, incision and post-surgical assessments, post-stroke and pneumonia care, trach care, G-tube feedings, and ADL assessments

Equipment used includes wound vac, glucometer, pro-time/PT-INR machine, IV pumps, and central lines/ports

Charting via Epic; prior Epic experience required

Day shift, 5x8-hour shifts (8:00–17:00)

On-call required after hours and on weekends, approximately every 3rd to 4th weekend

Mileage reimbursed at $0.55/mile

Active IL RN license required; MO state RN license also required

Current BLS and phlebotomy certifications required

Minimum 1–2 years of med/surg or acute care experience required

Minimum 1 year of home health experience required

Orthopedic nursing experience required

Prior experience with OASIS documentation required

Epic EMR experience required

Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted

Ability to drive 40–80 miles per day across assigned territory

Responsibilities include patient education on medications and wound care, trach care teaching, G-tube feeding instruction, and ADL assessments

Royal blue scrubs required

RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation

Travelers may remain at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
-
Former permanent BJC employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
