POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Night Supervisor to join our Operations Team. This is an overnight, full-time position that requires knowledge of the Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Bronx. The Night Supervisor must have great communication skills and be flexible.
The Night Supervisor is responsible to:
- Assess training needs of employees. Conduct training as required.
- Recommend or initiate personnel actions such as retraining and disciplinary measures
- Observe Drivers and Helpers in the field and perform on-the-spot coaching when necessary
- Maintain communications with mechanic/towing company/upper mgmt./tire company when there are issues or break downs.
- Update dispatch team on any issues that occur throughout the night.
- Conduct staff meetings to relay general information or to address specific topics such as safety and account management.
- Counsel employees in work-related activities, and safety matters.
- Inventory supplies, and requisition or purchase additional items as necessary.
- Plan work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staffing levels, to ensure that activities are performed effectively, and to respond to fluctuating workloads.
- Collaborate with Drivers and Helpers to solve work-related problems.
- Verify GPS reports daily to indicate any breaks or inefficiencies in routes.
- Keep track of daily tons per hour for each route daily to ensure they are running efficiently.
- Keep track of employee hours so that drivers do not exceed the DOT 60 hr. rule.
- Monitoring missed pick-ups by ways of communication with the drivers/helpers, and doing spot checks on accounts to understand better, and resolve all issues.
- Investigate and document incidents that occur.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least two years of relevant Supervisory experience
- Experience in waste management or trucking industry is preferred
- Strong organizational and computer skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingual is a plus
- Valid Driver's License - CDL is a strong preference
