Key Functions
-
Enforce safety and security regulations to assure the safety and security of Menninger staff, patients, guests, buildings and properties.

Demonstrate proper knowledge of safety and security regulations.
-
Take immediate action to correct and/or report any obvious unsafe conditions or actions.
-
Interact with those who violate safety and security regulations in a firm but professional manner.
-
Perform patrols per departmental guidelines to serve as a deterrent to criminal activities.
-
Patrol designated areas as directed.
-
Investigate suspicious activities and potentially hazardous conditions.
-
Notify proper authorities when situations warrant such action.

Respond appropriately to emergency situations
-
Respond to emergency incidents in accordance with existing policies and procedures.
-
Assist and cooperate with outside law enforcement agencies.
-
Assist during investigations of criminal activities.
-
Identify and preserves evidence.
-
Completes monthly inspections of emergency equipment to help ensure patient and staff safety.
-
Completes monthly inspection of fire extinguishers and exit lights in assigned areas reporting any deficiencies to Facilities Administration.
-
Operate switchboard and monitor the fire panel during evening and overnight shift.
-
Completes monthly Hazard Surveillance Rounds in assigned areas.
-
Completes rounds according to departmental guidelines. Any deficiencies are properly recorded and reported to Facilities Administration.

Display appropriate professional conduct and maintain professional appearance under all conditions and circumstances while interacting with visitors, staff, patients and guests.

Makes recommendations for corrective action if prescribed standards are not met.

Maintain compliance with MC-202 Seclusion and Restraint.
-
Accurately documents incidents and activities.
-
Prepares clear and concise reports.
-
Documents all activities and incidents encountered while on duty.
-
Submit reports in proper format to supervisory staff.
-
Assist with maintenance of Fleet Vehicles as outlined on Preventative Maintenance Work Orders.
-
Assure continuity of Facilities Management mission statement through punctual, regular attendance and reliability.
-
Does not abuse or take advantage of PTO or time management systems.
-
Provides proper notification and advance notice for absence or tardiness.
-
Consistently is on time and ready to work at the start of the shift.
-
Is willing to adjust work schedule and/or hours to help during emergency and crisis situations.
-
Assure the successful operation of the Facilities Management Department.
-
Accepts accountability for compliance with Menninger policies and procedures.
-
Identifies and reports unsafe hazards to supervisor.
-
Participates in Corporate Compliance educational presentations.
-
Demonstrates, by practice a comprehensive understanding of relevant portions of Corporate Compliance Plan and Code of Conduct by carrying out work tasks in accordance with the Plan and the Code.

Actively participates in the Team STEPPS program.
-
Demonstrates an understanding of developmental tasks and special needs for, and the ability to
establish rapport with children, adolescents, adults and older adults/geriatrics.

Complete other duties as requested.

Demonstrates an ability to perform a variety of duties, maintains flexibility as departmental needs change.

Education
Required:
-
High School diploma or equivalent.
License/Certification
- Eligible to obtain Non-Commissioned Security Officers license through the Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security; must obtain within 60 days of employment.

Licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the state of Texas and be insurable by Menninger.
-
Must obtain within 60 days of hire: MANDT and defensive driving.
Experience
Required:
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in security, law enforcement or military.

Ability to initiate and follow through on special assignments without supervision, ability to adapt to changing demands of the position.
-
Ability to work well under little supervision and demonstrate ability to utilize supervision effectively.
