Toni’s Kitchen is a food ministry of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Montclair. Our mission is to provide food to our neighbors in need in ways that respect their dignity, improve health and foster independence.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Social Worker provides clinical, administrative, program development, and people & data management services to Toni’s Kitchen program areas.
This includes:
(1) Neighborhood Mobile Markets (existing and new) and other community sites (senior centers and libraries) to meet community food and other resource needs
(2) Data development and capture to measure efficacy of Neighborhood Mobile Markets and other community partnership sites and to document/track/report/analyze guest activity
(3) Active participation in Toni's Kitchen meetings to brainstorm future state of TK programming
(4) Community-based resources and referrals/linkages to address visiting guests' needs
(5) Supervise social worker, staff, volunteers, and MSW/Americorps interns to assist with service delivery
(6) Educational and supportive counseling and case management to guests (as needed)

LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
· Gain understanding of food as a basic human need and the widespread social/economic issue of food insecurity and its profound impact on many segments of the population (particularly given the current rapidly shifting social safety net).
· Learn about past and current efforts to address food insecurity on the national, state, and local levels — what advocacy looks like, barriers and possibilities, and the role that Toni’s Kitchen plays.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Toni's Kitchen Neighborhood Mobile Markets and Other Community Locations
· Oversee new, standardized registration / check-in function at Toni's neighborhood mobile markets (approximately 8) to facilitate efficiency and limit guest visits to once/week
· Expand Toni's Resource Hub (e.g. nutrition education from existing Nutrition Action Program) to neighborhood mobile markets and other community locations (e.g. senior centers, libraries) considering logistical parameters and how to best serve the needs of each specific community
· Develop and manage team of staff members and volunteers to work in community resource hub (in collaboration with existing staff members to identify qualified volunteers)
· Complete quality review of neighborhood mobile markets / other community sites based on quantitative and qualitative data collected, consultation with Toni's Kitchen staff involved in other aspects (food inventory and distribution) and make recommendations for service enhancements
Other
· Actively participate in Guest Support Services staff meetings and periodic strategy meetings
· Represent TK at virtual and in-person meetings (Social Work and/or Food Insecurity related)
· Present at conferences and author articles for various publications (Social Work and/or Food Insecurity related)
· Additional projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED
- Master's Degree in Social Work; NJ LSW or LCSW license
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Social Work profession (or equivalent experience that aligns with job responsibilities)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Solid organization and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and report on key findings
- Multi-task many responsibilities in busy operation
- Professional ability to set and maintain boundaries and keep confidentiality
- Collaborative team member in decision making and delivery of guest services
- Maintain even and objective disposition and diffuse challenging encounters
- Technology proficient (existing or can learn) in multiple systems (Google Workspace, PantrySoft, Caspio, Trello)
- Reliable and consistent
- This position requires walking, standing, climbing stairs, sitting, moving and lifting boxes up to 40 pounds (must wear closed toe shoes at all times)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Direct Reporting: to Director of Social Work Services
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Exact schedule to be determined with selected candidate to meet position responsibilities (Toni's Kitchen is a 7 day/week operation; some weekend work is required.)
Hybrid: at main TK site (73 S Fullerton Ave in Montclair), in the community (Bloomfield, Montclair, West Orange) and remote
Salary: mid-$70,000s; commensurate with experience
