Join our dynamic agricultural team as a Barn Worker, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining the health and productivity of our farm operations. Responsibilities
- Engage in horse handling, feeding, watering, mucking stalks and wellness checking to promote health and well-being.
- Lift 40-60 pound hay bales, feed bags, shavings bags and muck overhead or into a manure spreader daily safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of farm infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
- Support irrigation systems setup and management to maintain proper water distribution across arenas.
- Conduct manual handling tasks including lifting, moving supplies, feed bags, or livestock as needed.
- Maintain safety standards by adhering to proper procedures during animal handling.
- Assist with fencing repairs and other mechanical repairs using hand tools and power tools.
- Support growing operations by assisting with harvesting when required.
- Monitor livestock health and assist with animal husbandry practices in collaboration with a veterinarian if necessary.
- Ensure cleanliness of barns, pens, , and work areas to promote a safe environment.
Qualifications
- Must have experience with livestock- Primarily horses
- Proven experience in farm work or agricultural environments with knowledge of farming practices.
- Supervising experience is preferred for overseeing team tasks or projects on-site.
- Valid forklift certification and experience operating heavy machinery such as tractors or farm equipment.
- Strong animal care skills including horse management and animal husbandry techniques.
- Mechanical knowledge for repairing agricultural machinery; welding skills are a plus.
- Experience with irrigation systems, greenhouse operations, or horticulture is advantageous.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting safely and effectively.
- Familiarity with safety standards in production environments and adherence to safety protocols.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to farming activities, or inventory management.
- Outdoor work experience in varying weather conditions with a proactive approach to maintenance and problem-solving.
