Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Hours: 25 Hours Weekly
Salary: $18.96 per hour

Position Summary
Queens Community House is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Kitchen Aide to support meal preparation and food service operations at our Older Adult Centers throughout Queens. The Kitchen Aide will assist with food preparation, meal service, inventory management, sanitation, and kitchen maintenance while ensuring compliance with the Department for the Aging (DFTA) and New York State Department of Health standards.
This position requires the ability to travel between various QCH Older Adult Center locations to provide coverage as needed.
Primary Responsibilities

Set up and break down coffee and tea service at the beginning and end of each shift.

Receive food deliveries from caterers, verify food temperatures, and properly store food.

Plate and prepare meals in accordance with DFTA nutrition guidelines and NYSDOH standards.

Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment.

Perform daily cleaning and general maintenance of kitchen facilities.

Prepare fruits, vegetables, salads, desserts, and other meal components.

Ensure volunteers have necessary paper goods and supplies for meal service.

Complete after-lunch cleanup and kitchen/dining room closing procedures.

Provide coverage at multiple Older Adult Center locations throughout Queens as needed.

Follow sanitation and food safety procedures and maintain kitchen-cleaning schedules.

Maintain inventory and notify supervisors of supply needs.

Complete additional duties as assigned.

Adhere to Queens Community House performance standards, policies, and procedures.
Required

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Ability to travel to various Queens Community House Older Adult Center locations throughout Queens.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong attendance, reliability, and punctuality.

Ability to pass and maintain all required clearances as mandated by governing agencies.
Preferred
-
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a food service, kitchen, cafeteria, or nutrition program setting.

Knowledge of food handling, sanitation, and safety practices.

Familiarity with Department for the Aging (DFTA) and Department of Health food service requirements.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods.

Ability to bend, lift, carry, and move supplies and food items up to 30 pounds.

Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
